Definition and use of sterilization or chemical indications
Sterilization indicator tape and label
Definition:
Made from wrinkled paper or label paper as the substrate, coated with color changing ink as a sterilization indicator, and coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back. The chemical indications tape used for chemical monitoring outside the pressure steam sterilization package will change the chemical indicator stripes on the back of the wrinkled paper from light yellow to black when a certain sterilization condition is reached at 121 ℃, 20 minutes, or 132 ℃, 3 minutes.
Usage:
- Used to indicate whether the item package has undergone pressure steam sterilization process.
- If the color change is uneven or incomplete, it may indicate that the package has not undergone sterilization treatment that meets the conditions.
- Wrap the package (if not using wrapping tape).
- Can record sterilization information (operator, sterilization validity period, name of items inside the package, pot number, etc.).
Plasma sterilization chemical indicator card
Definition:
It is a rectangular paper structure with thermal dyes printed on it, consisting of cardboard, standard color blocks, and indicator color blocks. Place the indicator card in the center of the package of items to be sterilized. After one sterilization cycle, if the depth of the indicator color block on the card reaches or is darker than the color of the standard color block, it indicates that the sterilization requirements have been met; If it is lighter than the standard color block, it indicates that the sterilization requirements have not been met. For packages that do not meet sterilization requirements, they cannot be used and should be sterilized again.
Usage:
- Used to indicate whether the item has undergone hydrogen peroxide low-temperature plasma sterilization process.
- If the color change is uneven or incomplete, it may indicate that the item has not undergone sterilization treatment that meets the conditions.
- Suitable for low-temperature plasma sterilizers.
Chemical monitoring requirements for sterilization quality:
Outside the package: Each item to be sterilized needs to use indicator tape or label outside the package. After one sterilization cycle, observe the color change to indicate whether it has undergone sterilization treatment;
Inside the bag: Use a chemical indications tape card and place it in the most difficult to sterilize area. By observing the color changes of the chemical indicator, determine whether it meets the sterilization requirements.
What situations are prohibited during the use of sterile items
Exceeding the prescribed validity period;
Loose packaging or torn fabric;
Wet, stained, watermarked or watermarked wrapping cloth;
Indicating that the tape has not changed color or that the color change is uneven;
Sterilizing equipment with stains and rust;
Doubts about the sterilization process and quality.
